About me

I'm Andre Lowe. I paint, and I am also building a game and simulation project called Vandrel. They are fairly separate projects, and I am not trying to pretend they fit together beyond the obvious fact that I am doing both of them.

I started painting seriously during the COVID lockdowns. I do not have formal art training. Most of what I know came from making a lot of paintings, getting some of them wrong, and watching other artists explain what they were doing. I paint people, animals, and landscapes, and I still like trying things that may or may not work.

On the software side, I am using Codex, ChatGPT, and other AI tools to build Vandrel and to find out how much coherent work one person can direct with AI. The Development Journal is the running account of what I tried, what failed, and what I am changing next.

If you are interested in a painting, a portrait, the software project, or something adjacent to either one, you can contact me directly.
